Samuel Bakkabulindi’s journey is a testament to resilience, empathy, and steady commitment to making a difference. After losing his father at a young age, Samuel and his siblings faced immense challenges, struggling to afford education, food, housing, and other basic needs. Despite these hardships, Samuel’s entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he took on various jobs, such as poaching fish, pushing wheelbarrows, and babysitting, to support his family. During these tough years, he made a heartfelt vow to help at least one needy child when he grew up.
From 1996 to 2012, Samuel’s talent as a percussionist took him to international music festivals, schools, and communities in 40 countries. During his travels, he was deeply inspired by the publicly funded education systems that ensured every child’s right to primary and secondary education. This experience strengthened his resolve, and in 1997, upon returning from a music tour in Europe, he began supporting a few children with their school fees.
Samuel’s promise and inspiration evolved into a clear vision. This vision materialized in 2015 after he relocated to the United States. There, he met Beth Zwecher Nassozi, a dedicated social worker passionate about promoting the well-being of children. Together, they founded Bakka2theSource Inc., an organization dedicated to educating vulnerable children in Uganda. With the support of Harvard Law School, the organization was registered and received its 501(c)(3) status in Massachusetts in July 2015.
Anet Nantongo is a dedicated and compassionate leader, serving as the Vice President and Treasurer for Bakka2theSource. With a heartfelt commitment to supporting less advantaged individuals, Anet has devoted over 14 years to aiding children in Uganda by providing them with school fees, clothing, and essential support. Her philanthropic efforts extend across the nation, reaching children from diverse backgrounds, including orphans and those raised by single parents.
Anet’s unwavering dedication to these children and their families is a testament to her selflessness. She has consistently prioritized their well-being over her own financial standing, embodying the belief that “where there is a will, there is a way.” Her passion for helping others is profoundly reflected in her actions, as she has committed herself to these causes without hesitation.
Inspired by the words of Denzel Washington, Anet believes that “The most selfish thing you can do in this world is help someone else, because the gratification, the goodness that comes to you, the good feeling, the good feeling from helping others—nothing is better than that. Not jewelry, not the big house, not the cars; it’s the joy. That’s where the joy is—in helping others. That’s where the success is.” This philosophy drives her to continue making a positive impact in the lives of those she supports.
As the Vice President and Treasurer, Anet brings not only her financial acumen and leadership skills but also a deep-seated empathy and commitment to the mission of Bakka2theSource. Her experience, passion, and unwavering dedication make her an invaluable asset to the organization and the communities it serves.
